Fantastic News!

They're engaged! Yep, Nathan proposed and soon Katie McCombie will be Katie Bish!

I've waited patiently while they told friends and family, but now it's time for a blog broadcast! The wedding will be in State College on October 16. So exciting! Eli will turn 2 the day before. What a wonderful celebration we'll have that weekend.

It feels like Katie is already part of our family. She's the perfect fit and I have never seen my brother happier. Nathan and Katie, we're so excited for you and are counting down the days!

20 months!

The little stinker is 20 months old today. Even though he was feeling a little better, Grandma and Grandpa came to house to spend the day with him. Thank you both very much!

So we've arrived at another month milestone. It seems like Eli's vocabulary has really expanded these past few weeks. He now says "no." For some reason, he had never caught onto that word before (which was fine with me!) He also has added some more animal sounds- meow and roar are favorites. He can say blue, yellow, and green. He also repeats the alphabet as I say the letters. He doesn't get them all correct (I say "W" and he says "what's that?"), but he can say most of them. He's definitely catching on, and he gets really excited when I ask him if he wants to practice letters. He walks around the house pointing at his various train toys saying choo choo. He has also replaced his "more" sign with the actual word. And he always smiles when he says it and draws it out-mooooorrre. He also continues to point at everything in the house and say "what's that?"

Mommy and Eli Day

Too bad it wasn't under better circumstances.

I'm home today with a sick kiddo. When I picked Eli up from the sitter on Friday, he had developed a rather deep cough. It's still here and starting on Friday night, a fever has joined in. He hasn't had much of an appetite all weekend, so I think maybe his throat hurt too.

So needless to say, I was planning on the probably taking off today. And Eli woke up again with a fever this morning. I gave him Motrin and his fever broke around 9am. The two of us spent the day together, although I still had a lot of work to get done. I had my email up all day, replying to co-workers and accounts.

We managed to sneak off to the pool for awhile this afternoon. I was hoping he would feel ok to go. He loved it. I think (hope) it was good to get some fresh air and run around a little bit.

Now we're back at home, snacking on some fishies and milk. Banana bread is ready to go into the oven and dinner (this) will be ready to go next. Here's hoping that tomorrow is a fever-free-back-to-normal-day for my kiddo!

Smith Mountain Lake

Kevin, Eli, and I spent a long weekend at Smith Mountain Lake with Dave, Christine, and Julia Walsh. Christine's family owns a condo on the lake. We left late Thursday night and arrived just before midnight. Both kids were up early the next morning- a little before 6am (!)- so we got on the boat early and took advantage of the beautiful day. The weather was fantastic- blue skies, warm sun- we couldn't have asked for better weather.

Both kids were unsure of their life jackets at first, but they got used to them. After about 15 minutes on the boat, they both fell asleep. Dave and Christine drove us all over the lake and we looked at all of the beautiful houses and picked our favorites. We beached the boat and tried to get the kids to swim in the lake but neither of them were very interested. They'd rather run around the boat and eat grapes and goldfish crackers. We then went to a marina where we fed fish and ate ice cream. After naptime at the house, we ventured over to the pool next to the condo and let the kids float around in their inner tubes. So fun. We spent the next day out on the lake and at the pool again (with naptime in between). Again the weather was just perfect. And again, Julia and Eli fell asleep shortly after getting on the boat.

Here are quite a few pictures from the weekend. I couldn't decide on just a couple, so I posted a bunch. When you see how cute Eli and Julia are, you'll understand. Thanks Dave and Christine for a wonderful weekend. We had such a good time with your family. It was a wonderful trip!

We've already taken her ruby slippers. :)

There was a lot of hugging this weekend

Family Pictures- Spring 2010 Edition

Beth from Waypost Photography took family pictures of us last month at Needwood Lake in Rockville. She sent me a slideshow of a few of the pictures and the rest are coming in the mail on a cd.

We've had Beth take our pictures twice a year since Eli has been born and I've loved how they've turned out everytime. She manages to capture shots of Eli that just melt my heart.
