Eli's Favorite "Foods"

Eli loves to put EVERYTHING in his mouth- his hands, his toys, my nose... you name it, it's covered with drool.
What a tasty mirror...
So many toys... so many things to eat!

Let me try this flower...

Yummy caterpillar...

This bug plays music when I eat it. How fun!

Check out the left hand going after the camera. He would eat that, too, if we'd let him!

Sunday Afternoon

We had a fun afternoon on Sunday with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Bill, Aunt Julie, and Mina. We went out for lunch. Eli snoozed the whole time. But when we got back to Grandma and Grandpa's house, he was ready to play!

Flying Baby!

Eli was playing a game of Airplane with Daddy. I grabbed the camera to get some shots from the ground view. Kevin and I got covered with drool in the process, but Eli loved it!

Test Results

Great news today! Eli had a heart echo with the cardiologist today. His words... "Eli has proven science wrong." His heart size is totally normal now. It had been 20% enlarged during my pregnancy. Then when he was a couple months old, his heart size measured in the upper limits of normal. And now it's totally normal.

His liver function is also normal. We're waiting on the results from his liver sonogram, but it appears as though the mass has decreased in size. We're anxious to find out just how much. How thankful we are that science isn't the ultimate authority!

We also found out that Eli weighs 16 1/2 pounds. Holy moly! I'm not sure those cheeks could get any bigger! Eli spent the day with his daddy. Kevin thought he looked cute in his hat, so he stopped by my office to show me in person. What a wonderful break in my day.
A new toy to play with...oh boy

Here's One for the Mommies...

I just placed an order on www.diapers.com. Use the code baby10 to save $10 off your order of $49 or more. I bought a large case of diapers ($41 after a $1 off coupon on the site), a diaper genie refill, and playtex bottle liner refills all for $45 (after applying the $10 off). Since my inital order was over $49, I also qualified for free shipping. My items are scheduled to arrive on Monday.

Thought it was worth sharing!

March Books and a Special Visit

Mim, Pop, Uncle Nathan, and Nicole came to our house this weekend. Mim and Pop arrived Thursday night and watched Eli all day on Friday. They brought 2 new books for March. Eli loves them- they are both pop-up books and he reaches out and grabs at the "pop-ups." (He's trying to eat them!)

The boys spent most of Saturday watching the ACC tournament. The girls and Eli visited the Great Indoors. It was such a fun weekend. Eli certainly got a lot of attention. He was squealing up a storm! The house seems so empty now tonight.

5 Months Old Today!

Eli is five months old today. It seems like every day he's doing a new trick. He is just so much fun to be around!

  • He is smiling and laughing a lot now. I kiss his chin, and he giggles like crazy.

  • He loves his exersaucer and plays with all the toys on it. I love watching him play in it. He concentrates really hard!

  • He is sleeping much better now. I still feed him once, but that's nothing compared to previous months. Thank you little man.

  • He loves books and turns the pages. He really likes his new pop-up books from Mim and Pop (2 books in March!)

  • He lost most of the hair on his head. It's starting to come back in a little. His eyebrows and eyelashes are much more pronouced.

  • His eyes are still blue.
  • He reaches out for toys and puts EVERYTHING in his mouth.

Spring is in the Air!

II am ready for spring! We got a taste of spring here in Maryland this weekend. It was nice and warm both yesterday and today. Yesterday my friends Renee and Melissa came over for lunch. We had soup, Renee made fruit salad and homemade bread, and Melissa made cherry cobbler. It was the perfect afternoon. We've all been friends since we were little, and I know we'll be friends for the rest of our lives. It was great catching up and I hope we get to do it again soon!

Our friends Asif and Tammy and their son Cameron came over to meet Eli and visit this afternoon. It was great catching up with them. They are one of the first couples Kevin introduced me to when we started dating.

Eli had a great day today. We went outside a little while ago while Daddy was washing the cars. It was so nice taking him outside without having to bundle him up and keep him covered. I can't wait for more warm days to take him outside.

Where's the Baby?

Eli is a little ninja. Let me explain. I fed and changed him last night at 4am. When the alarm went off this morning, Kevin looked over at our video monitor, shot up in bed, and said, "Where's the baby?!?"

"What? What do you mean, 'where's the baby?' Let me see the monitor!!" Kevin ran over to the nursery as I looked at the baby-less monitor. In those 3 seconds it took Kevin to get to the nursery, my mind was racing. What did I do with the baby? Where did I put him? Could I have forgotten to put him back in his crib? Did I put him on the floor? Why would I have put him on the floor?!?!?

Kevin came back in and said that he was fine. He was ALL the way to the side of the crib flat on his back. The video monitor shows both sides of the crib, too, so even if he moves to one side or the other, we can usually still see him. Not this time!

Our little ninja. Let me tell you, there's nothing like waking up in a sheer panic with your mind racing, thinking that maybe, just maybe, you left your baby on the floor.

Yeah, I have ninja skills.

Giggles

I realize that this is not the best video. Eli was in the baby bjorn and started giggling when I bounced up and down. So I apologize for the up-closeness and the sea-sickness!

Eli also learned a new trick yesterday. I was reading a board book to him. He reached out and started turning the pages. One after another, he'd reach out with his right hand and grab the page. He turned it halfway and then he'd finish turning it with his left hand. So cute.
