Beep Beep... Here He Comes!

Eli's favorite toy right now is his Disney ride on/push toy. He's very much into pushing it all over the house. He takes a few steps with it and then pushes it while on his knees. He's better with it on the carpet though. Once he hits the kitchen floor, it goes faster than he realizes and down he goes. He's pretty good at beeping the horn, too. Gracie has learned to get out the way quickly when Eli comes plowing through.

Attention to Detail

Eli pays attention to the smallest details these days. He stops what he is doing and picks up the random hair, fuzz, or as I like to call them "snivvies." I'm not sure if that's a Pennsylvania word or something my mom made up when we were little. Kevin never heard of it. He just calls it lint or fuzz or something far less exciting than a snivvie.

But anyway... Eli managed to find a piece of cat food stuck between the floor board and the steps. How in the world did he see that? And the funniest... watching Eli try to "pick up" the mole on my leg. This kid notices everything!

Get Me Outta Here!

Hey you out there! Hey, look up here... in the window. Help! Help! Help me! My crazy mom is in the kitchen making me broccoli for lunch and then she is mumbling something about a nap. Please help me! I've got my bag all packed. I'll crawl to the door and we'll make a break for it.

Daniel Lee

Kevin's cousin and his wife had a baby boy on Friday evening. Little Daniel Lee was 7 pounds 11 ounces. Daniel's poor mother had a c-section after 18 hours of labor. But as you can see from the pictures below, she looked great. We visited them at Inova Fairfax Hospital yesterday afternoon. Daniel is so cute with lots of dark hair.

Evan Michael Fleming

Evan Michael Fleming was born on Monday, August 17. His parents are our friends Shawn and Amanda. The three of us went to meet little Evan on Wednesday. His big sister Sydney is so excited to have a new baby brother. Evan is so sweet and looks a lot like Amanda. Eli was pretty excited to have a new friend. I see bike rides through the neighborhood together in their future.

One quick peek and then...

...back to snoozing.

World's Best Mom

...is not a title I will soon be awarded. I picked up Eli from Smita's house on Friday to find this.

My poor baby had a run in with the little kids' table. She said he didn't cry, but it sure did turn black and blue.

So Friday night Eli and I went for a walk in his car. It was super humid out and looked like it was going to rain any minute. We were only out for a few minutes when I started itching. At bathtime that night, I looked at Eli's legs and saw two big bug bites. What a rough day.

10 Months Old Today!

I say this every month, but where does the time go? Eli is 10 months old today. Here's what he's been up to.

He's pulling himself up and takes a few steps holding on.
He loves playing in the pool and in his bath tub.
He is really into his books and pulls out the one he wants to read.
He likes to play parachute with the sheet when he plays in mommy and daddy's bed each morning.
He loves his new car that Mr. Brian and Miss Deb gave him. We've been cruising around the neighborhood almost everyday in it. He actually just loves the outdoors in general. He's very observant and watches every car, child, bug that goes by.
He likes to fake cough. I think it's hilarious, but I have yet to capture it on video.
He has his own play cell phone. He's loved the regular phone for quite some time, but now he really enjoys pushing the buttons on his very own phone.
He's learned to crawl the regular way now but often chooses army style for efficiency- or to stay under enemy fire.
He's been introduced to cheese and is a big fan. I can't blame him. Cheese is good.
I forgot to mention at his 9 month appointment last month, he weighed 20.5 pounds(50%) and was 28.75 inches tall (75%).

D's Shower

Today was my friend Danielle's bridal shower at Cafe Deluxe in DC. She works at Enterprise with me. In fact, before she went into the HR department, she worked at the Bethesda branch, and her branch manager was none other than Kevin Kim.

The shower was a lot of fun, and the food was great. My friends Sadie, Christine, and Ali (all Enterprisers) were all there, too. It' so much fun hanging out with them outside of work without looking at the clock, sighing, and saying..."guess it's time to get back to work."

Danielle, I'm sure you'll read this post sooner or later... Your shower was so much fun, and you had the most awesome heels ever. Kevin and I are really looking forward to your big day. I can't wait to see the blushing bride and Cameron's face when you walk down the aisle.

What a beautiful cake... complete with silver bbs.

Ah, what every bride needs...a brand new Rowenta iron. She's dreaming of wrinkle removal.

A Blind Crab and a Headless Giraffe

Our little man loves books. Everyday (and often multiple times a day) Eli wants to read. We put three piles of books in the living room with the rest of his toys. He crawls over to them and fishes out the book he wants. Then he sits down in front of me waiting patiently for me to start reading....ok, he's not really patient at all. If I don't start fast enough, he starts grunting and kicking his feet like a madman.

He turns the pages and loves to touch the pages that have textures. He loves pictures of babies and is very much into his peek-a-boo books. He has some pop-up books that he has destoyed, but he still loves to read them. Kevin and I laugh when we flip the page to read about the giraffe and see a poor decapitated animal, or when we get to the crab and he's missing an eyeball, or when we see the hippopatamus looking not nearly as fierce without teeth.
It's not unusual for Eli to want to read at least 8-12 or more books at a time. He grunts when I finish one and tries to grab another or sits there and grunts for me to read it again. I love book time with my little buddy.

Ok, I know this picture doesn't have anything to do with reading, but it's cute nonetheless...

What a Week!

Dear Mim & Pop,

I had such a fun week with you two. I'm really glad that you could spend all week with me. Thanks for playing with me, making me food, taking me for walks, and swimming in the pool with me. Wasn't it fun reading all those books together?

Thanks for helping Mommy and Daddy around the house too. It was so nice of you to make them yummy dinners every night. I can't wait until I'm big enough to eat your cooking, Mim. Thanks also for watching me Thursday night so that Mommy and Daddy could take Uncle Sean, Michele, and Rocco out to dinner to celebrate their engagement.

I miss you both already. Wasn't it fun chasing me around the house and watching me clap? I asked Mommy to post some pictures from our week together so you can remember how much fun we had. I love you Mim and Pop!

XOXO,
Eli Skim

Pop, remember how much fun the slide was??

Pop, remember how we read 700 books together??

Remember when Julia came over for a visit with Miss Christine? She's really cute.

Remember how we clapped together? I'm really good at clapping.

Remember when we went to the swing? I love swinging!!

Mim, remember how fast we went down the slide?

Remember hanging out at the pool everyday? That was awesome!

I have the coolest pool hair.

Those little fountains were pretty cool. Remember how I tried to catch the water in my hands?

I can really cruise around in this, can't I? It's because I know how to kick my feet.

Mim, remember how high you threw me in the air?

How funny did we look walking to the pool with all of our gear? Next time I'll push you Pop.

I think my new swim trunks are pretty cool. My matching shirt makes me look pretty awesome. My best look is when Mommy pops the collar and leaves it unbuttoned. The ladies love it.

Too bad I didn't get a piece of your birthday cake. Happy belated birthday Mim!
