The Little Tornado

Ryan is a tornado. He just finds and dumps everything. Everything!

Eli's Conversations

Here are a few things that Eli has said over the past couple of weeks that I want to remember.

I was signing up for a parent/teacher conference time slot at Eli's school. Eli asked what I was doing and I said, "I am writing my name on this list." He answered, "You spell that M-O-M."

Eli was carrying his sippy cup in from the van after we pulled in from daycare. We got inside the door and he promptly handed it to me saying, "Here. This water turned old."

Eli disappeared while playing. I found him in the bathroom on the potty. I said, "Oh there you are." He held out his hand and replied, "I've got to go poop. Can you hold my hand while I do this?"

When Kevin takes Eli up for bed, they have this exchange. Kevin says he loves Eli. Eli says, "I love you more." Kevin says, "I love you the most." Eli says, "I love you the most times two times thirty-seven times twelve times fifty-two." (or similar random numbers that he can think of). Then Kevin does the same thing and they go back and forth cracking up.

Eli was sick last Friday with a fever and upset stomach. Later that weekend he was feeling much better, but he was still milking it a bit.  Eli was on the couch and my mom asked him to do something. He answered (with dramatic flair), "I don't fink I can do that because I have a fever."

While playing at the train table, Eli called out to me (in an overly sweet voice), "Oh Mommy! Could you put this milk in the frigerator for me? That would be very, very helpful!"

I often hear Eli calling from the train table, "Mommy! Come get Ry. He's messing up my train table." But yesterday when he said, "Mommy, come get Ry!" I said, "Is he messing up the trains?" He answered, "No, he's just bothering me."

And the last one... One of my favorite things about this age is the funny little "mistakes" kids make with the English language. Eli speaks clearly and has a good vocabulary, but those moments when he uses the wrong word just crack me up. He uses "anybody/nobody" incorrectly. As in, " Anybody doens't want to do that!"

Cheerios!!

Cheerios are taking over our house. They are supposed to be a non-messy snack, right? Wrong. Somehow Ryan manages to crush them into dust, mix them with slobber, and create a messy cheerio paste that he smears everywhere. He also grabs handfuls of them and tries to shove 16 in his mouth at a time. So cheerios are flying everywhere!

Spencer is a super clean eater. He eats his cheerios one at a time and everything stays nice and dry and non-pasty. But he loses them. Once I put the boys down, I find 27 cheerios in their two highchairs. They often have cheerios hanging off of their clothes. They carry spares around in their fists.

After a cheerio eating session, it isn't uncommon for me to find rogue cheerios all around the house. Of course I expect the normal shrapnel around the highchairs, but I find cheerios everywhere.
Just see the evidence below.
The cheerios that were tossed over the side of the high chair

The random cheerio found on the back door mat approximately 15 feet from the site of the snack

I suppose a good parent would have put a bib on this poor boy. That little cheerio was a mushy slobbery mess.

This kid doesn't even know that he has one on his head. I mean, really.

This one takes the cake. I swear this wasn't staged. (Check the ear). This discovery is what started this whole post in the first place. All I can say is, never a dull moment around here. Even during snack time.

Picking (times two)

Pictures like this aren't all that unusual in the Kim house. I usually choose not to post nose picking pictures. But I think that I have come to the realization that with 3 boys in the house, I'll probably end up with more "picking" pictures than regular ones!

Tough Guy

So Spencer, this is a new tough guy shirt that you got as a gift for your birthday.
Give Mommy your best tough guy look.

S: How's this?
Mom: Well, not so tough actually.

S: How about this Mom? Blowing raspberries is pretty tough, right?
Mom: Umm, not so much. I think you can be tougher.

S: Oh, I can't. I'm just too silly!
Mom: I think you just need to focus.

S: Ok, ok. I can do this.
S: How's this for tough!? I call this the bulldog. Don't mess with the bulldog.

A Stroll Around the Block

I was home with the boys yesterday (usually Kevin is home with the boys on Thursdays). We took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed outside. I loaded the littlest ones into one of their birthday gifts from my parents- this awesome red wagon. This baby has seats and straps- perfect for wiggly one year olds! The boys loved it. Eli volunteered to pull the wagon and off to the playground we went.

When we got to the playground, I loaded the boys into the swing while Eli played on the equipment. Ryan and Spencer loved swinging. I got a work out running from one side to another making silly sounds (and looking like a complete fool, I'm sure) and pushing them.

That walk made me very anxious for spring! Now of course, it's freezing cold again! We're ready for you Spring!!!

Today is Duck Day

Today is duck day in the Kim household. The twins are asleep and Eli and I have been busy making some fun duck crafts (and doing some silly quacking, too!)

Easter Bunny Sighting!

Eli and I made this fun bunny craft last night. He did a great job with the big kid glue.

Cake!

S: Why's everyone looking at us?
R: Dunno. But you've gotta try this thing they put on our tray. It's green on top, but it's definitely not pureed peas.
S: I don't know. I like sweet potatoes and cauliflower. This is neither.

R: Seriously, it's sweet and delicious. Like puffs, but better. I can't figure out this brown part though.

R: It crumbles and makes a mess. I certainly like messes. It's quite tasty too.

S: I'm not sure about this. It feels weird and I prefer not to get messy.
R: Quit being a sissy.

S: Fine. Oh this is delicious. I think I might like this better than sweet potatoes actually.

R: You got that right. Let's hope we get this again tomorrow for breakfast.

Thank you Aunt Linsey!

Ryan and Spencer received a very special gift for their first birthday from my bff Linsey (Aunt Muffin).  She made these for the boys- complete with fancy-stitched elephant appliques. They are just beautiful and look great with their nursery decor. Thanks so much Lins- these are so special!
