Twins Update

The babies are 24 weeks and 6 days today. We had 2 appointments yesterday and everything looks great with both babies. They are like Pete and Repeat- both weigh approximately 1 pound, 11 ounces and have heartbeats of 143.

They have been moving around like crazy. Baby B has totally changed position from my appointment last month. I've been able to feel the babies for a couple of weeks, and Kevin can see and feel them too now for a week or two. They are squirmy little things!

Nan

Nan used to put up this aluminum tree in her house when her girls were younger. They also had a real tree, but the girls all thought this one was ugly. My mom decided to put it up in her kitchen this year, and it looked great. Nan was excited and posed beside it.

For years and years, Nan has come over for Christmas brunch at my parents' house. The menu is always the same- Breakfast Egg Casserole, potatoes, fruit salad, and a plate of breads and cookies. It definitely ranks as one of my all time favorite meals. Nathan and Katie didn't arrive until Dec 26, so it was a little quieter than usual, but still delicious.

After brunch, Nan opened some gifts.

Christmas Morning

We left Kevin's cousin's house on Christmas Eve and drove straight up to Milton. We thought Eli would fall asleep as soon as we left our house since it was already way past his bedtime (9:30). Boy were we wrong. We got to Milton at midnight. Eli fell asleep at 11:30! Thank goodness Christmas morning was low-key. It was just us and my parents. Eli opened presents slowly and wanted to play with everything he opened. We spent the entire day watching him open his presents from Santa and Mim and Pop. Just a couple at a time...

He got some new puzzles from Mim and Pop.

He got a set of 12 mini Mickey Mouse books from Santa. He was a big fan.

Opening his new set of Legos!

Building a tall tower with Pop and Red Vacuum

"a very, very tall tower"
Eli got some great new toys, and he really seemed to love everything he got. Mim and Pop got him some bath color tablets, so he's been taking blue baths in Milton. Santa got him a Handy Manny plush doll. He has a Mickey Mouse plush doll that he sleeps with, so we thought he would love a Handy Manny one. He doesn't want anything to do with it and said, "I scared" when I asked him if he liked Manny. Funny.
Thanks to everyone for their generous gifts. We all had a great Christmas!

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve with Kevin's family at his cousin Lisa's house. It was really special this year because his cousin Joe's family (who live in Chicago) were there to celebrate. Dinner was great- followed by present opening for the kids.

Pillow Pets were a big hit this year.

Noah, Nathan, Isabella, Eli, Mina, Lucas

After dinner, Eli opened a present from Mom and Dad- new PJ's. We did this the past two Christmas Eves too. This is turning into a Kim family tradition- new jammies for Christmas.

Mina's gift from Grandma and Papa- 2 hamsters!

Our first day of vacation

This is my first day of vacation. No work until Jan 3! Eli and I have had a fun day. We've colored and played with stickers. He has helped with the laundry. He sat on the counter and watched me make him pancakes and bananas for breakfast. We've read lots of books and ran one errand to downtown Frederick. Oh, and vacuuming. He's done lots of that.

Right now he's napping. I just finished making macaroni and cheese to go with our dinner later on and folding the fourth load of laundry.
These are pictures from the first load of laundry. Eli's sheet suddenly disappeared. It didn't take me long to find it.

'Where Eli go?"

"Here I am."

"I hiding."

26 Months Old

2 years and 2 months. Eli is learning new things everyday and everyday he seems more and more grown up.

This list probably won't be that interesting to most, but it's my way to document what Eli's doing at this age.

He has moved into a toddler bed. For now it's a twin mattress on the floor against the wall, but he's all into it. He hasn't asked for his "tib" at all and enjoys his toddler bed. Some mornings we wake up to him crying and go in and find him on the floor. I'm not sure if he rolls out over the pillows or if he climbs out and gets a little disoriented. Anyway, he enjoys being surrounded by pillows and "sends." Sends = Friends = a bunch of stuffed animals.

Speaking of bedtime, Eli can say most of his prayers now. It's really cute when he prays for his brothers. He also likes to say thank you to God for things. He says "God, Daddy" or "Tank Tou God Daddy". Other things that have been popping up randomly on the "Thank you God" list: Eli's hands, Mickey's hand, Daddy's shoes, Daddy's (or Mommy's or Eli's) hair, Paula Deen, paint, "poopaste" = toothpaste.

He likes to sing. Sometimes he wants you to sing with him. Sometimes he does not. If he doesn't want you to sing with him, he'll say "Mommy, done!" Favorite songs of the moment are: Let it Snow (must sing verses 1 and 2), Up on the Housetop, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song, Jingle Bells, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and Happy Birthday. He can sing the last three in their entirety all by himself.

Favorite Books of the moment: Christmas with Boz, his School Bus books (3), Animal Baby and BabyBug books. My least favorite books of the moment are Animal Baby and BabyBug books. :)

He loves to color with markers at his table. He'll sometimes sit and color up to 5 different pictures in a sitting. He also likes to glue shapes onto construction paper. He knows all the major shapes really well. He likes to trace his hand (and ours too) with marker, so bathtime now involves a lot of scrubbing hands to remove marker.

He's also still very much into cleaning. He has three vacuum cleaners and one is by his side 99% of the time. He likes the vacuum to sit by his chair and watch him eat. Sometimes the vacuum sits in the bathroom during bathtime. Sometimes when we're out, I'll ask him what he wants to do when we get home. The answer is almost always "clean with vacuum." He continues to be very thorough with his cleaning, vacuuming in corners and under the couch. He'll ask me to move things so he can vacuum under it (ottoman, plant stand, bar stools, etc). He takes it all very seriously.

He's learning to use his potty. I think I am going to do the 3 day method at the end of the month, but for now, he's trying out his new potty. He gets a sticker for each time he goes and that's a hit. He's only gone #1 for me, but he did #2 at Smita's house once. I know all of you really care about that, right? :)

He's also a good eater right now. He eats pretty much anything I put in front of him and loves peas and yogurt.

And last, a few cute sayings that have come out of his mouth. He's really putting together ideas and sometimes says the funniest things.
Pop painted the green stripes in his room navy blue and Eli really likes them. He says "Pop painted. Good job Pop."
On the way home from church, Kevin commented about Eli being a little man. Eli said "Noooooo!" We said, "you're not our little man?" And he said, "No, I a little boy."
He's learning to manipulate. He asked to watch Handy Manny one night, but we had already watched Mickey Mouse and it was bedtime. I said no. The little stinker gets up, goes into the kitchen, and asks his dad instead.

Our Christmas Tree

We went to Pine Valley Tree Farm to find our Christmas tree. Eli was a good helper, especially with the tree cart.

Finished product. Now it's just waiting for Santa's visit!

Advent- Big Hit

Well, the Advent book idea is a hit with Eli. He asks to open a "present book" first thing each morning. We've been reading the ones he's opened quite a bit, and he's learning the words to some of them.

Here's the collection so far!

Eli's favorite so far... Christmas with Boz
He knows most of the words already.
...And a close second, Silent Night. He's a fan of music books.

He's still learning the concept of "just one book per day." He'll open one and we'll read it. Then he'll say "More present books please." I think he's going to be pretty excited on Christmas morning. He's definitely got the hang of ripping open gifts.

Play Date with Miss Julia

Miss Julia Walsh came over to play on Saturday. These two kids had a great time together.

They did a lot of coloring with markers. Then they decorated those masterpieces with Christmas stickers.

They did a pretty good job with sharing too.

Then they decorated gingerbread men cookies. What a hit!

Because they were so well behaved, they were rewarded with a taste of icing.

And they loved it!
