Tree Time!

This afternoon we headed to Pine Valley Tree Farm to pick out our tree. We went there last year, and it was a lot of fun...although much different than this year. For instance, last year Kevin and I were both on leave. We picked a sunny, warmer day in the middle of the week. We packed up our little itty bitty 6 week old in the baby bjorn, and he slept almost the entire time.

Fast forward one year. It snowed like crazy yesterday, so the entire tree farm was covered in either snow or mud (mostly mud). Eli's a little too big for the baby bjorn and there was no chance we were off-roading in that mess in his nice stroller, so we carried him. Let's just say a 23 pound child gets heavy after a bit. It was a chilly day today, but sunny, so we were ok all bundled up. Eli had a good time, although he got a little impatient when it came time for Kevin to cut down the tree.

Right now the tree is in the garage drying out. That'll be this week's project- one night for lights, one night for ornaments. Between Eli and the cat, we'll probably have to mount the thing to the wall and surround it with a fence!

Here we are with our prize. Eli, who taught you to do that?
Seriously, Eli. Where do you learn these things?
This tree didn't stand a chance. It took one look at that saw and the look on
Kevin's face and just fell over on its own.

haha...our tree experience was a doozy this year too! We went out on Saturday morning, in the midst of the snowstorm. We opted to buy one from our church's youth ministry instead of treking through the snow with a 38 week pregnant woman and a toddler. Good thing, too, because we were only outside for 5 minutes while we picked a tree from the church's parking lot and Callan screamed the whole time. Gene ended up decorating the whole tree himself, too, because we got home and Callan was sick and wouldn't let me alone....and he thought the ornament balls made nice baseballs. :) Fun times! :)
