I saw this idea on a blog last Christmas season and thought it would be perfect for my book-crazy son (and kiddos to come). The idea was to create a book advent- 24 books to countdown the days to Christmas.
Last year after Christmas, I was able to buy a bunch of Christmas books on clearance. A majority of them are Christian-themed (the local Christian bookstore marked their kids books way down) but there is a lot of variety. We put away his Christmas books when we packed away the rest of the decorations, so they will be new to him again this year. There also is a variety in the reading level- there are board books, flap books, books that play Christmas songs, and longer stories. So as the kids get older, we'll replace some of the more babyish books with ones suited for older kids. We hope this turns into a fun tradition for our family.
So here is the final product. While Eli is visiting my parents in PA, we spent an evening wrapping each book in a sheet of tissue paper. We'll let Eli choose one every night starting Dec 1.
